So it's Studio Series Grimlock from Age of Extinction, but with a drastically better paint job and some tweaks obviously. There are caveats however... While an excellent figure all around, mine has some minor play in his hips back and forth between ratchet teeth which is irritating but hasn't shown to be an issue thus far. And something I'd mistaken was that his upgrade kit was basically the DNA Designs upgrade kit. It's not, it's an approximation of it yes, but there are differences. His thumb doesn't have the "wart" on it (as Emgo referred to it) which locks his hands into a clenched fist, and his hands also don't have the small tab inside his fingers to somewhat securely tab his staff into. Meaning while he won't drop it easily, it will be wobbling around to its own whims while he's holding the dang thing. There's also no tongue for his dinosaur form (BOOOOO), and no multi-hinged chain for the mace if you wanted it done that way. Part of the DNA kit will work on him (the weaponry), but the hands don't appear to be swappable which means no better hands short of splitting his forearms to remove the hands. But it's SS AoE Grimlock, at an affordable price, with a far better paint job than the official. Can't really bash it for what it is.

I love the figure. Great articulation and paint. This site I have found is the best way to purchase transformers figures online at a good reasonable price! This site overall has been amazing to me especially when I had to change my address after I had already purchased the figure!

So, technically my second or third/fourth Baiwei figure (seeing how the Siyang is technically Baiwei according to the box on Scorponok), and is he good? Well it's the old AoE Leader Class Grimlock, it's an extremely good mold. As is this though mine has a couple minor problems in the form of his lower knee joints being a hair loose where they don't stay locked in straight but wobble back to the first ratchet tooth. That and his faux Rex head shoulder's horns are a bit bent so they don't sit flush against the "noggin". But he's still solid as all get-out without any major issues. There's a couple caveats you should know prior to buying this guy though. The promo pictures aren't really correct, his color is far closer to a G1 Grimlock in a darker gray with some weathering as opposed to the more metallic silver with weathering like the official. Second is that while it looks like the DNA upgrade kit he has on him (and you can tell they at minimum copied it), it has differences. The DNA hands have a tab inside the fingers which plug into the staff at a slot near the head of the previous. Well the slot is on the staff, but the tab is nowhere to be found on the hands. Neither is the thumb "wart" that locks the hands closed on the side of the index finger featured on the DNA kit, so while he's able to hold the staff it isn't going to be anywhere nearly as secure as the upgrade kit. And irritatingly the hands are done in such a way where it looks like you aren't able to switch them out for the upgrade kit's hands either, the mushroom peg is hidden inside the hand as they covered the back of the hand's empty void (which is both obviously bad for this, but nice for posing as hey, no waffle!). It's extremely unlikely you'll be disappointed buying this guy if you're a fan of the design, just keep in mind he's got some issues that possibly could be remedied in the OSKO version. But as I don't have that currently, I cannot say for certain.
