Going middle of the road on this one - not overly disappointed but not exactly thrilled with my purchase either. Given the price I paid though, I don't feel it necessary to kick up a stink about it. I knew to some degree that this price wasn't indicative of a top-of-the-line Optimal Optimus figure. Positives up first - he's a good scale and feels weighty in hand. The figure looks and feels very solid and the colours are vivid, even the little golden details look well done on my copy. I like the weapon that can break up into component parts and the head sculpt is pretty accurate, which I know from experience can be hit and miss on KO figures. A fun and affordable alternative for those of us who missed the original and haven't gotten hold of that big ol' POTP Optimal with his crown and sceptre of glory! On the other hand though, there's some visible stress marks out the box and signs of where the figure was cut from the mould. Easily rectified with time and the right equipment but still, you always sigh when you see it. His weight works against him in some places as it is mostly in his upper body and arms and this can make standing upright in bot mode a challenge at times but it's not so bad when he's putting the Gorilla in Captain Gorilla. Also, in my case if nobody else's, I can see he's meant to come with some shoulder mounted cannons but they're missing from the box in mine so my Optimal just has two little nubs with portholes on his shoulders. I'll task my imagination with pretending they're just really short cannons...

I can’t speak for the original coloring, but the black monkey’s joints aren’t very loose like I’ve seen in videos of the original. Some places are a bit looser than I’d prefer like one of his ankle rockers and the ball pegs that connect his thumbs to his hands, but they can still keep a pose without any real issues. Much like I’ve read through the instructions aren’t great, but he’s not hard to figure out watching some videos of the original Iron Factory figure. He’s a darn solid figure that’s great for anyone who missed out on the original honestly. Also be wary you may or may not find sprew marks on some of the gray plastic. Mine had some between the fingers that I just used some nippers to cut off.
